Nautical Theme Gifts, Lighthouse Utility Tower plus more!

The Lighthouse Utility Tower is designed to be free standing for easy placement and mobility, but can be mounted by more permanent means.

Free Standing Installation:

Base

  • For the free standing method, choose your desired location and place on firm level surface.
  • Remove the fill cap located on top of the base and simply fill with sand.
  • Replace cap once filled.
  • COMMERCIAL GRADE SAND or thoroughly dried play sand is the recommended ballast material for extreme weather conditions.
  • Base will hold up to 100 lbs. of recommended ballast material.

Caution!  It is extremely important to fill base with sand or permanently mount base to ground or deck. Tip over due to high winds or other acts of nature with an improperly secured base could result in injury.

Tower

Once you have your base in place, set the bottom of the tower on top of the base aligning the 4 molded through holes in bottom flange of tower with the threaded inserts on top of the base. Use 4 of the 1/4 -20 black hex head bolts with washers to secure the tower to the base. Screw bolts down until tight. Do not over tighten, two turns after finger tight is sufficient.

For mailbox use, windows on tower should be 90 degrees from base doors. For all other utility uses, it is your preference.

Light Room/Beacon

Remove Solar Panel by pinching clip located at the top of the solar panel and pull unit out of window cavity. Once removed, place rechargeable battery (included) into compartment. Replace solar panel in window cavity with thumb clip on top. Then place light room on top of tower aligning the 3 holes located in the bottom flange with the 3 threaded inserts molded into the top of the tower. NOTE: Pay attention of how you position the solar panel in accordance with the window in tower. You may want to step back and look to see if everything is aligned as you wish before tightening bolts. Once aligned place the hook rail so hooks are facing up, onto the top side of the bottom flange of the light room.  Align the 3 tabs located on the bottom of the hook rail with the holes and screw the final 3 ea 1/4-20 black hex head bolts and washers into the inserts on top of the tower. Secure tightly but do not over tighten. One and a half turns is sufficient after finger tight.

For optimal performance of LED lighting, place the Lighthouse Utility Tower so the solar panel faces the direction that receives the most sunlight. Allow for a full day of sunlight to completely charge the battery. Solar panel will illuminate for two nights on one full charge of sunlight.  A cloudy day provides minimum charging capacity, however if you are having guests over on a cloudy day and want to ensure the beacon is illuminated during the evening, you can replace the rechargeable battery with a regular AAA battery. Be sure to change regular battery with rechargeable battery before placing back into sunlight! Regular battery will damage circuitry.
